Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that involves using fine needles to create hundreds of tiny, invisible puncture wounds in the top layer of the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural wound healing processes, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production, which can help improve the appearance of the skin.

Here are some key points about microneedling:

1. Procedure: A device with fine needles, either a roller or a pen-like tool, is used to create micro-injuries on the skin's surface. This can be done under topical anaesthesia to minimize discomfort.

2. Benefits: Microneedling can help reduce textural issues with skin, such as acne and keloid scaring. And although Microneedling is also commonly used to treat other skin ageing concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and hyperpigmentation, my recommended course of action for many of these concerns would be Mesotherapy via the Nano Pen to improve skin texture and firmness.

3. Recovery: The recovery time is relatively short. You might experience redness and mild swelling for a few days following the treatment, similar to a mild sunburn.

4. Sessions: Multiple sessions are often needed to achieve the desired results, typically spaced a 4-6 weeks apart.

5. Aftercare: There is little downtime post needling, though I do recommend a gentle skincare regime and the use of a broad spectrum SPF daily. I will give full instruction as to what you should avoid/do post treatment in Clinic.

6. Home Devices: There are also at-home microneedling devices available, but they usually have shorter needles and provide less dramatic results compared to professional treatments. I do sell a home device in clinic which can be used in between treatments to help with product absorption and skin tightening etc.
